From a Dire Warning to the Wolves of the Earth

A mysterious warning, perhaps from beyond the grave.

Is it legitimate?

What should we do?

And what, exactly, are Wolves of the Earth?

The Mushroom Scroll:

“If you are reading this, then we are likely all dead. Of the five of us who set out to understand what Cptn. Calan is doing, three are aboard the Dawnstar as I write [BURNED] this. We underestimated him, and I write this that you may learn from our mistake, which we have paid for in blood.

Do not look at the ship. Their perimeter alerts are more sensitive than you know. We scouted, and that evening, the two who g[TORN]ed longest were taken. I cannot say how long a glimp[TORN]is safe.

Do not approach the ship any closer than 100ft. It is built as a trap. The alarms aboard it are silent, and once you are too close, there [BURNED] escape. It even traps fishing dorys that get too close, though they are freed. you will not be. Many aboard are well-versed in the art of forcing minds open. I am likely already dead.

They hunt a Witch named Tezura. They believe she lives in Montessian, and has dominion over the fell folk who haunt that dread land. They have captured some folk from Montessian, and bend them to the Empire’s will. So Tezura hates them above all. But she kills all who set foot there, so a potential ally inaccessible she remains. Many have died with olive branches in hand on those shores.

Major Taft Allbright, under Calan, subjugates them. He brought in some evilly controlled dark wolves of the earth to hunt the Knackers, we know not why.

Cptn. Calan will turn any against you, and you will not know. If you have asked or worked against him in this town, there is already a trap closing around you. Count on him being three steps ahead. Take four steps back and find a new, unbroadcast path, or forfeit your lives.

by the blood of my cell, I vow all this is true.”
